⚙️ Mode of Action
- Polyene antifungal → binds to ergosterol in fungal cell membranes, causing pore formation and leakage of cell contents.
💊 Indications & Dose
- Oral candidiasis (thrush): Nystatin 100,000 units/ml oral suspension, 1 ml every 6 hours after food for 7 days. Hold in mouth before swallowing for maximum effect.
- Candidal skin infection: Cream/ointment 100,000 units applied QDS (four times daily) for 7 days.
