⚠️ Cautions
📈 FBC monitoring essential: Baseline → every 2 weeks for first 2 months → then every 2 months (or 2-weekly if on max dose).
Infection risk: Patients must seek urgent advice if temperature ≥37.5–38°C or if unwell (sore throat, cough, diarrhoea, urinary frequency, unexplained bruising).
Renal impairment: dose adjustments required.
Carcinogenic potential (long-term use).
🚫 Contraindications
Pregnancy and breastfeeding (teratogenic risk).
Severe bone marrow suppression or marked anaemia.

❗ Side Effects
Bone marrow suppression (onset 7–21 days).
Mild GI: Nausea, vomiting, diarrhoea.
Mucositis and mouth ulcers.
Skin and nail pigmentation, leg ulcers (with long-term use).
