- 💊 Steroidal antibiotic often used in combination with other agents for bone and joint infections.
- 🦠 Particularly useful against penicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus.
🌍 Activity
- 🛑 Bacteriostatic (inhibits bacterial protein synthesis).
- 🎯 Strong activity vs. staphylococci, including MRSA in some cases.
- 🦴 Good penetration into bone and joints.
💉 Indications
- 🦴 Osteomyelitis.
- ❤️ Staphylococcal endocarditis (always in combination with other antibiotics).
- 🩹 Staphylococcal skin/soft tissue infections.

- 🩹 Skin infections: 250–750 mg PO or IV every 8 hours.
- 🦴 Bone/joint infections, staphylococcal endocarditis: 0.5–1 g IV TDS.
- 🧪 Monitor LFTs with high or prolonged dosing.
🔄 Interactions
- ⚠️ Avoid concomitant statins → risk of rhabdomyolysis.
⚠️ Cautions
- 🧪 Monitor LFTs with prolonged/high doses.
- 💧 Use with caution in patients with biliary disease.
⛔ Contraindications
- 🚫 Hypersensitivity / allergy to fusidic acid.
💥 Side Effects
- 🤢 GI: nausea, vomiting.
- 🧪 Hepatic: transient jaundice, hepatitis.
- 💧 Renal: acute renal failure (rare).
- 🌡️ Hypersensitivity reactions.
