Cyclizine
Generally avoid in Nausea related to Cardiac patients particularly CCF/ACS.

Mode of action
- Piperazine derivative with histamine H1-receptor antagonist activity
- Antimuscarinic action. N-demethylated to inactive norcyclizine
Indications/Dose
- Nausea, Vomiting, Vertigo, Motion sickness, Labyrinthine disorders
- Antiemetic: Adult Cyclizine 50 mg TDS PO/IM/IV or PRN up to 3 times a day, for motion sickness, take 1-2 hours before departure.
- Palliative care: Cyclizine 150 mg/24 hrs SC infusion

Cautions
- Avoid in those with cardiac disease
- Glaucoma, Prostatism, Pregnancy
- IV dose can cause transient paralysis
- Elderly patients are more susceptible to side-effects
Contraindications
- Avoid in those with cardiac disease
- Avoid in Acute porphyrias
Side effects
- Sedation, Blurred vision, Drowsiness, Anaphylaxis, Angioedema
- Angle-closure glaucoma; arrhythmias
- Paradoxical stimulation (especially with high doses in the elderly)
