MAKINDO MEDICINEClinical reference for doctors

Privacy and visitor analytics

Issued 31 October 2026. Review alongside future editorial or privacy changes.

Visitor analytics are optional. Reading is available without allowing page-view analytics. When enabled, the website records page visits and the visitor's public IP address for a limited time in a private area of the website.

Data controller and contact

Makindo Medicine is operated by the website publisher. ACTION REQUIRED BEFORE PUBLICATION: add the legal name/contact email or postal contact for the data controller here, and provide a route for privacy requests. Do not advertise this notice as complete until these details have been supplied.

Information collected and why

The implementation does not use advertising cookies or third-party analytics trackers. Optional consent preference and queued events may be stored in your browser's local storage to remember your choice and send consented views after reconnecting. Essential editor authentication uses a secure session cookie.

Lawful basis and choices

Optional readership analytics are disabled until you choose Allow analytics. The intended UK GDPR lawful basis is your consent, and the browser storage used for this optional purpose is enabled only with your choice. You may decline without losing access to reading content. Click below to change your preference. Consent withdrawal stops future collection on that browser; to request deletion of earlier IP records, contact the website controller.

Retention and access

Full IP address entries in the private visitor log are retained for a maximum of 30 days of active service operation and automatically pruned when new analytics are received or the private report is opened. The site owner should schedule routine retention checks to ensure records are removed even if there is no activity. Aggregated daily and cumulative chapter counts may be retained for longer because they do not contain visitor IP addresses. Random event IDs are held for up to 90 days to avoid duplicate counts.

Only authenticated editorial accounts can see the private analytics log. The public web interface and offline app ZIP do not contain the log, editing accounts or password hashes. IP addresses do not reliably identify individuals, particularly on shared networks. Avoid using the log to infer a visitor's medical condition or identity.

Your rights and further information

Under UK data-protection law you may have rights to access, correct or erase personal information, withdraw consent and complain to the Information Commissioner's Office. Contact the controller at the details to be added above. The ICO can be reached at ico.org.uk. If your site uses a separate hosting/CDN analytics product, update this notice and ensure its configuration follows applicable UK GDPR and PECR requirements.
